Vision
Statement For Berean Bible Church Of Spokane
During the two congregational interview sessions
held in the Spring of 1998 as part of the senior pastor candidating
process, Pastor Jim Gay shared the following vision as to where God
would want him to lead the Berean Bible Church if he were selected as
senior pastor. Upon being selected, this same vision statement was confirmed
by the Board of Elders and communicated to the congregation in the Berean
Newsletter. Its major points are these:
- Outreach - The vision is that
a significant portion of our future growth would be the result of
reaching the unsaved with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
- Spiritual Growth - The vision is that every person who
attends Berean Bible Church will daily be involved in:
-
- a. Interaction
with God's Word: Psalm 1; Romans 12:1,2; Colossians 3:16; I
Timothy 4:6,7; II Timothy 3:16,17;
-
- b. Personal Prayer:
Ephesians 6:18; I Thessalonians 5:17; Hebrews
4:14-16; James 5:16;
-
- c. Fellowship
with other believers who will encourage them to look to God
rather than men. Hebrews 10:23-25
-
- d. The Exercise Of Faith
In God in every part of their life including the sharing of
the Gospel and works ofservice. Hebrews 11:6; John 14:21; Hebrews
12:1-11 Note: These disciplines are at the heart of a healthy
growing spiritual life. Everyone needs to be involved in them
and know how to help others to be involved.
- A Diversity Of Ages
- The vision is that of a congregation of diverse ages worshipping
and fellowshipping together. We must continue to minister to the
needs of an aging congregation, while at the same time make changes
which will better minister to the needs of people 35 and younger.
- Concerned Leadership - The vision
is that of a church lead by a leadership team that loves God, each
other, and its congregation. And that the congregation would know
this without a doubt.
- A Passion For Christ - The vision
is that of a church that is excited about God and can not be held
back from talking about Him in its everyday life. A church body
willing to give all that it has to serve Him, and live by the motto,
"To Live Is Christ. To Die Is Gain" Scriptural Basis:
Philippians 1:12-21; Matthew 22:34-40; John 14:21;
It Will Require Faith In God: A vision is a picture of where we are
headed. In this case, it is important to remember that there is no part
of this vision that can be realized without God's involvement. We can
not reach the unsaved, we can not grow spiritually, we can not effectively
care for each other and lead each other without the work of His Spirit
in our life. To move toward this vision, it will require each of us
to be faithful, available, and teachable as God works through us to
make it happen.
